Can a memory exist of a time before me?
Can I claim it as mine or is it just a false memory?
I’ve heard and seen what remains in my head,
But it was never an experience I could say I’ve encountered.
Memory is temporary, but it’s all we have.
Time goes on and memories fade.
We can try to remember,
Yet things don’t seem right.
What is known in the present affects memories of the past.
We mix different memories and experiences.
They become one.
They become confabulated moments forever changed.
